Groupwise registration of dynamic cardiac perfusion images using temporal dynamics and segmentation information

چکیده

We propose a groupwise registration method for cardiac perfusion images using temporal information. Perfusion image characteristics make groupwise registration especially attractive, and registration accuracy is improved by including segmentation information. Registration aims to maximize the smoothness of the intensity signal while segmentation minimizes a pixel’s intensity difference with other pixels having the same segmentation label. We use B-splines to optimize the cost function that includes registration and segmentation information. The method was tested on real patient datasets. Due to the use of temporal information for groupwise registration our method shows lower registration error and higher segmentation accuracy than conventional methods which perform registration and segmentation separately.

Ensemble registration: combining groupwise registration and segmentation

We investigate incorporating structural information from segmentation into a groupwise registration framework. Previous work by Petrovic et al., using MR brain images, showed that using tissue fractions to help construct an intensity reference image gives better results than just using intensity images alone. In their work, a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) was fitted to the 1D intensity histogram...

Joint Registration and Segmentation of Dynamic Cardiac Perfusion Images Using MRFs

In this paper we propose a Markov random field (MRF) based method for joint registration and segmentation of cardiac perfusion images, specifically the left ventricle (LV). MRFs are suitable for discrete labeling problems and the labels are defined as the joint occurrence of displacement vectors (for registration) and segmentation class. The data penalty is a combination of gradient information...

Nonrigid groupwise registration for motion estimation and compensation in compressed sensing reconstruction of breath-hold cardiac cine MRI.

PURPOSE Compressed sensing methods with motion estimation and compensation techniques have been proposed for the reconstruction of accelerated dynamic MRI. However, artifacts that naturally arise in compressed sensing reconstruction procedures hinder the estimation of motion from reconstructed images, especially at high acceleration factors. This work introduces a robust groupwise nonrigid moti...

Iterative multi-atlas-based multi-image segmentation with tree-based registration

In this paper, we present a multi-atlas-based framework for accurate, consistent and simultaneous segmentation of a group of target images. Multi-atlas-based segmentation algorithms consider concurrently complementary information from multiple atlases to produce optimal segmentation outcomes. However, the accuracy of these algorithms relies heavily on the precise alignment of the atlases with t...
